ABOUT THE IMMIGRATION KIT: DIGITAL EDITION

Both the Basic and Student plans include:

  • Full access to all chapters and content of The Immigration Kit: Digital Edition
  • A search bar to find information quickly within the text
  • Integration with AUSTLII legislation

The Student plan provides all of the above at special discounted pricing for eligible students.

The Pro plan includes everything in the Basic plan, plus:

  • Q&A with The Kit – our interactive AI-powered tool: type your questions and get plain English answers drawn only from the expert legal text written by IARC’s immigration lawyers, fully sourced.
  • “Explain this” feature: highlight a word or sentence, click ‘Explain’, and the Q&A tool will tell you what it means.
  • Integration with AUSTLII and Jade case-law libraries.

The Immigration Kit: Digital Edition is online, interactive, and updatable, meaning our lawyers can update it as legislation and policy change. It also includes tools not available in the print edition – including a search bar to find what you need quickly, and an AI-powered Q&A tool to help you get answers faster.

The Immigration Kit has been around for more than 30 years – starting as a binder of information, becoming a textbook, and now transforming into a digital resource in 2026. It was written and created by us – the Immigration Advice and Rights Centre (IARC). IARC is a community legal centre that provides free legal advice to migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum, and advocates to improve human rights in Australia. Every chapter has been written, updated and reviewed by IARC’s immigration lawyers. The Q&A tool draws responses only from the text written by us.

The Immigration Kit: Digital Edition was built by Lext – an Australian legal innovation company based in Sydney that builds technology solutions designed by lawyers, for lawyers. IARC and Lext worked together to transform The Immigration Kit 10th Edition into a digital resource.

Q&A TOOL

Simply type your question into the chat box and you will receive a response with sources shown at the bottom of the page. The Q&A tool provides answers using AI by drawing only on the expert legal content  written by IARC’s immigration lawyers – it has guardrails in place, so it does not pull from any external sources.

Our Q&A tool is powered by AI and may make mistakes – it is important to check responses carefully. It does not replace professional advice. Responses provided by the Q&A tool are intended as a guide only. You should always seek advice from a Registered Migration Agent or a qualified immigration lawyer.

ACCESSIBILITY AND LANGUAGE

Not at this stage – it is a live online tool. You will need an internet connection to access the full functionality.
